Commercial Coffeemakers

Coffeemakers for high-volume brewing with keep-fresh features

Although much is written about home coffeemakers, a good number of people drink their coffee from restaurants and at their offices. Commercial coffeemakers differ from home coffeemakers in that commercial coffeemakers are made especially for high-volume brewing that offices and restaurants require.

Necessary Features for Commercial Coffeemakers

For restaurants and coffee shops, the important things to look for in coffeemakers are:

their ability to brew coffee quickly and
their ability to keep it fresh for long periods of time.

Some restaurants and coffee shops will employ a system that has a thermal carafe. Thermal carafes keep coffee fresher than glass carafes. Those brewers that do not have a thermal carafe can be poured or brewed directly into pre-heated thermoses. This system is employed a lot in coffee shops where thermoses contain different flavors of coffee and customers get coffee directly out of them.

Many commercial makers brew two different pots of coffee at the same time. This feature is necessary because of the need for separate carafes for caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. At most restaurants, carafes are color-coded so that staff members know which carafe is which. A two-in-one model can allow a restaurant or coffee shop to brew caffeinated coffee and decaffeinated coffee at the same time. Separate carafes are also necessary for any flavored coffees. Once flavored coffee is in any container or carafe, it is difficult to get out the smell.

Bunn Coffeemakers for Offices and Restaurants

Of all major commercial coffeemaker companies, Bunn stands out as the most prominent. Bunn actually invented the first paper coffee filter for commercial brewing. Their involvement in commercial coffee brewing goes back to the 1950s.

Bunn offers models that can do just about anything. Bunn coffeemakers have a reputation for being reliable and producing consistent cups of coffee over long periods of time. Although other bands of commercial coffeemakers are on the market, Bunn seems to always have an upper-hand in the battle for commercial coffeemaker supremacy.
